The Crate is Home, Not a Punshment
At FSP, we often remind families that a crate is not a four-letter word. For Sweetie, her crate should feel like her bedroom—a place of comfort, safety, and calm. Crates keep puppies safe when supervision isn’t possible and prevent destructive habits from forming. When introduced properly, Sweetie learns that her crate is a place to relax, not a place of isolation. We recommend placing the crate near where you spend time or near your bed at night, especially during the first few weeks. Feeding meals in the crate builds a positive association and reinforces that the crate equals good things. A well-adjusted Standard Poodle sees her crate as a refuge. At FSP, we believe crate training sets the foundation for independence, confidence, and lifelong good habits.
